The story is set on St David's Day: March 1st. In Wales, St David's Day is very special. The children often dress up for school, either in traditional Welsh costume or in rugby shirts. Some children dress as miners or daffodils. Anything that celebrates Wales! The book is about a boy called Jaco, who decides he is tired of dressing up for St David's Day. This year he wants something different. So he makes a wish at bedtime and it comes true. Next morning, he finds he has turned into a leek!
