I am amazed and proud to be able to say I am now officially a Storyteller, Author and POET!
I have poems in four anthologies.
DRAGONS OF THE PRIME is a collection of poems about dinosaurs. My poem is called THE JIGSAURUS PUZZLE, and it's about a Professor of Palaeontology (Prof Angus Digger-Down) whose team has unearthed the bones of a mighty Jigsaurus dinosaur, but the bones need fitting together and time is running out.
MIDNIGHT FEASTS is a gorgeous hardback book from Bloomsbury, which is Harry Potter's publisher. It's fully illustrated throughout by Katy Riddell, who is the daughter of the famous illustrator Chris Riddell.
All the poems are about food. Mine is called THE LAST JELLY BABY.
It's truly amazing to see my name alongside world famous poets like AE Housman and Lewis Carroll (who wrote Alice in Wonderland) If you had said to me, at ten years old, that one day I would have a poem in such a book, I would have thought you'd gone totally crazy. Who me? The girl writing poems on scraps of paper? NEVER!
THE LAST JELLY BABY also appears in A WHALE OF A TIME, which is a whale of a book! It's HUGE. It's a hardback book, illustrated in full colour and so heavy, I need two hands to pick it up.
It features a funny poem for every day of the year (you will find my poem on 11 December) and is published by Nosy Crow.
Last but definitely not least, POEMS FOR 7 YEAR OLDS contains my poem IN THE COFFEE SHOP. This is my favourite published poem. I wrote it when I was actually in a coffee shop. It came to me almost perfectly formed, and I got the tingly feeling I always get when I know something is good.
It's written from the POV (point of view) of a seven year-old, but it's not just a children's poem. Adults love it too, though they find it very sad.
